De Bethune DB28xs Dark Sand DB28XSSWZ Watch

De Bethune DB28XSSWZ  is a distinctive expression of contemporary independent Swiss watchmaking, combining De Bethune’s compact DB28xs architecture with a matte anthracite zirconium case and highly finished titanium dial. Designed around a compact 38.7mm profile, the Dark Sand brings together innovative materials, sophisticated mechanics and De Bethune’s characteristic floating-lug construction.

De Bethune DB28xs Dark Sand

The Dark Sand is distinguished by its matte anthracite zirconium case, giving the watch a deep, monochromatic appearance. The 38.7mm case measures just 8mm thick and incorporates De Bethune’s patented floating lugs, designed to adapt to the wrist for improved comfort.

The case is complemented by a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment and a hardness rating of 1,800 Vickers. The screw-down caseback is also made from matte anthracite zirconium and incorporates a sapphire opening that reveals the linear power-reserve indication.

Black Sandblasted Titanium Dial

The DB28XSSWZ features a layered titanium dial architecture finished in dark tones. The dial background is crafted from black sandblasted titanium, while the circular hour-and-minute ring is made from black satin-finished titanium.

Polished purple titanium hour markers provide a subtle contrast against the dark dial. Matching polished purple titanium hands complete the display.

At the centre of the composition is De Bethune’s distinctive anthracite deltoid-shaped barrel bridge. It features barleycorn guilloché along with sandblasted, polished and bevelled surfaces, creating a combination of textures that changes with the light.

De Bethune DB2115V13 Manual-Winding Movement

Inside the DB28xs Dark Sand is De Bethune’s DB2115V13 mechanical manual-winding calibre. The movement measures 30mm in diameter and contains 241 components and 36 jewels.

Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement provides a remarkable six-day power reserve, equivalent to approximately 144 hours. The reserve is achieved through a self-regulating twin-barrel system developed by De Bethune.

The calibre incorporates several of the manufacture’s technical developments, including a titanium balance wheel with white-gold inserts, a De Bethune balance spring with a flat terminal curve, a silicon escape wheel and a triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system.

The power-reserve indication is positioned on the reverse of the watch, allowing the wearer to monitor the remaining autonomy while preserving the clean character of the front dial.

38.7mm Zirconium Case and Floating Lugs

The matte anthracite zirconium case measures 38.7mm in diameter and 8mm in thickness. De Bethune’s floating lug system is integrated into the case architecture and is designed to follow the movement of the wrist.

The result is a compact watch with an unconventional case construction that remains closely connected to the DB28xs design language.

Dark Sand Strap

The watch is fitted with a textile strap with leather lining and a matching matte anthracite zirconium pin buckle. The dark strap complements the zirconium case and maintains the understated colour palette of the Dark Sand.
