The Ressence Type 5 T51X-LXXL_NGA is an unconventional luxury dive watch that reimagines how mechanical time can be displayed. Built around Ressence’s distinctive oil-filled display system, this titanium timepiece combines a technical instrument-inspired design with the brand’s signature rotating-dial architecture.

The Type 5 was developed around the idea of making mechanical time easier to read underwater. Instead of using a conventional fixed dial and hands, the watch uses Ressence’s patented ROCS display system, in which the dial and its indications rotate across the surface of the watch.

The upper chamber of the case is filled with oil, allowing the display to remain visually clear and reducing the effects of parallax. This creates a distinctive reading experience in which the indications appear suspended beneath the sapphire crystal.

The T51X-LXXL_NGA reference is housed in a Grade 5 titanium case measuring approximately 46mm in diameter. Titanium helps maintain a relatively light feel despite the watch’s substantial dimensions and technical construction.

Grey Display and Oil-Filled Technology

The grey display gives the Ressence Type 5 T51X-LXXL_NGA a restrained, technical appearance. Its rotating indications provide hours, minutes and seconds while maintaining the highly recognizable visual language of Ressence watches.

The oil-filled chamber is one of the defining characteristics of the Type 5. By filling the display chamber with oil, Ressence creates a virtually parallax-free view of the rotating indications.

The display is designed to remain legible from different viewing angles, reinforcing the instrument-like character of the Type 5.

ROCS 5 Automatic Movement

Powering the Ressence Type 5 is the automatic ROCS 5 movement. The Ressence Orbital Convex System drives the rotating display module while a self-winding mechanical base movement provides the energy required to operate the watch.

The Type 5 provides hours, minutes and seconds and has approximately 36 hours of power reserve according to current Ressence specifications.

Unlike a traditional mechanical watch with a conventional crown, the Type 5 uses Ressence’s caseback-based setting and winding system. The caseback controls allow the wearer to wind and set the watch while preserving the clean, uninterrupted appearance of the front of the case.

Titanium Case and Dive Capability

The 46mm Grade 5 titanium case is designed for the demanding environment associated with a dive watch. The Type 5 incorporates a unidirectional bezel and is water resistant to 100 metres.

The watch uses domed sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment, protecting both the front and rear of the technical display and movement architecture.

The combination of titanium, sapphire crystal, an oil-filled display and 100-metre water resistance makes the Type 5 substantially different from conventional luxury sports watches.

Strap and Wearability

The Type 5 Luminova is designed with a leather strap and ardillon-style buckle. The strap configuration complements the technical appearance of the titanium case while providing a more traditional tactile element to the unconventional watch.

The overall design remains unmistakably Ressence, with minimal conventional case hardware and an emphasis on the rotating display rather than traditional watch hands.
