The IWC Tribute to Pallweber IW505003 features a 45mm stainless steel case and a blue lacquered dial with large digital-style displays for the hours and minutes. Instead of conventional hour and minute hands, rotating discs display the time using jumping numerals, creating one of the most distinctive visual features of the watch.

The Pallweber concept dates back to 1884, when IWC produced pocket watches using a similar digital time display. For the 150th anniversary Jubilee collection, IWC revived this historical idea in a wristwatch for the first time.

Jumping-Numeral Display

The defining feature of the IWC Pallweber IW505003 is its mechanical jumping-numeral display. Large numerals indicate the hours and minutes through separate rotating discs, while a small seconds display provides traditional seconds indication.

The mechanism was specifically engineered for the watch’s Calibre 94200 movement. A separate wheel train controls the minute display, allowing the digital indication to advance at the appropriate intervals without compromising the main movement’s power delivery.

Every minute, the single-minute disc advances. Every ten minutes, the tens-of-minutes display changes, while the hour display advances once every hour. This mechanical sequence recreates the characteristic jumping-numeral display associated with the historic Pallweber pocket watches.

Stainless Steel Case and Blue Dial

The 45mm stainless steel case gives the IW505003 a substantial presence while maintaining the refined proportions of the Tribute to Pallweber design. The case measures approximately 11.9mm in height and features a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides.

The blue dial is finished with multiple layers of lacquer, reflecting the Jubilee collection’s design language. White display numerals contrast against the blue background, while the small seconds indication complements the unconventional time display.

IWC Calibre 94200

Powering the watch is the IWC-manufactured Calibre 94200, a manually wound mechanical movement developed for the Tribute to Pallweber. The movement operates at 4 Hz and provides approximately 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

The movement contains 290 components and 54 jewels and is finished with traditional watchmaking decorations including Côtes de Genève and Perlage. Through the transparent sapphire caseback, the mechanical architecture and finishing can be viewed directly.

Limited Edition of 500 Pieces

The IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years” IW505003 was produced as part of IWC’s 150th anniversary Jubilee collection. The stainless-steel version was limited to 500 watches, making this reference particularly distinctive among IWC’s anniversary releases.

IWC also produced the Tribute to Pallweber in platinum and 18-carat red gold, but the IW505003 is specifically the stainless-steel version with a blue dial and black alligator leather strap.

Black Santoni Alligator Strap

The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap by Santoni, complementing the blue dial and stainless steel case. The strap measures 22mm at the lugs, with an 18mm buckle width.

With water resistance rated at 3 bar, the watch is designed primarily as an elegant mechanical timepiece rather than a sports watch.
